Zinc

Zinc

Zinc is an essential trace mineral that plays a role in immune defense, wound healing, growth, and hormone balance.

What does it do?

It supports immune cell activity, skin repair, taste and smell, and is critical for reproductive health. Low zinc can impair immunity, slow healing, and reduce fertility.

What foods and how much do I need to get DV?

  • 3 ounces oysters (about 6 medium) = ~500% DV

  • 3 ounces beef chuck roast = ~50% DV

  • ½ cup cooked lentils = ~15% DV

  • 1 ounce pumpkin seeds = ~20% DV

Do I need a supplement for everyday health?

Not usually if you eat meat, seafood, or seeds regularly. Vegetarians, vegans, and those with digestive issues may struggle to get enough and could benefit from a supplement.
